Eurovision Song Contest 1985
The Norwegian duo Bobbysocks was formed in 1984 and consisted of Elisabeth Andreassen (former Andreasson) and Hanne Krogh (born on January 24, 1956).
The girls met for the first time in 1983, at the music-festival Knokke Cup in Belgium.
Hanne have had an idea of a duo for a long time.
Two girls that would sing a little 50's music together, but she had yet not found any partner.
As when Hanne saw Elisabeth at Knokke-festival she got stuck on her directly.
Around a year later she called Elisabeth and asked if is she was interested.
Elisabeth became fire and flames and swish was the duo Bobbysocks born.
In the summer of 1984 they dropped their first album "Bobbysocks" in Norway and it became a big success.
In 1985 the girls became immoderately popular in Norway when they won the Norweigan national final of Eurovision Song Contest with the song "La det swinge" (Let it swing) and shortly after that they also won the European final in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Their album got released once again, with "Let it swing" included, all over Europe and the duo became popular everywhere.
They sold masses of records and went on many tours. In Norway Bobbysocks became embraced as queens.
The girls made a huge success with a show in Moscow and touring long and successfully in, among others, Australia.
They carried out apart from Norway and Sweden-tours also a Europe-tour that gave nice reviews.
Bobbysocks was touring under its assets year in totally 4 continents and 16 different countries.
In 1985 the duo awared "Peer Gynt priset" (The Peer Gynt prize), which each year are distribute by the Norwegian goverment called Stortinget, to people who has done something good for Norway overseas and it’s the most glorious reward a Norwegian can get.
This caused an enormous writing on the cultural pages in Norwegian newspapers.
They usually give the prize to ministers, fathers of the people and authors, and now Bobbysocks!
It became however a acknowledgement for the duo who gave the world the hit "Let it swing".
The follow-up to "Let it swing” called "Waiting for the morning" came in 1986 and the opening performance were at the Norwegian grammy-awards called "Spellemannprisen".
Bobbysocks new album "Waiting for the morning" became released in the entire Europe and made of course a huge success.
The same year Bobbysocks was invited to the British national final of Eurovision Song Contest to sing "Let it swing" during the break.
The duo were introduced as the Scandinavian Andrews sisters.
When Norwegian Steffen Tangstad were boxing against The Spinks in Las Vegas in 1986 Bobbysocks got invited to sing the Norwegian national anthem in the boxing-ring.
During the summer and autumn of 1987 the duo recorded the LP "Walkin’ on air" in Los Angeles.
Bobbysocks went in to the grave in 1988.
Hanne and Elisabeth however still appears together now and then.
